Program Overview

A communications degree offers students the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of the media’s role in society, along with a highly specialized and personalized concentration in their area of professional interest – Broadcast and Social Media, Journalism, Video Game Design, or Visual and Brand Communications.

Students investigate and critically evaluate the past, present, and future of mass communications so that they are prepared to excel within its ever-changing structure and to produce changes within it. The program, which is practical in nature, utilizes hands-on courses with a theoretical foundation to provide students with a well-rounded education. Students develop a foundation in both the creation of media and comprehension of the effects and significance of media products that they create and consume.

Communications students (and students from other majors) have access to a 4+1 program, which leads to Master of Arts degree in Strategic Communications and provides a clear, competitive advantage for career advancement. During their final year of undergraduate coursework, King’s College students can enroll in the 4+1 program and complete courses in the online Master of Arts in Strategic Communication. The program is practical, high impact, and efficient. Students in the program are from around the globe and possess various undergraduate degrees, have diverse backgrounds, and work in a variety of fields. Classes run during accelerated sessions of semesters and are friendly for working professionals. After receiving their bachelor's degree, students who participate in the 4+1 can earn a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Communications in as few as three semesters.
